Resumen

The present research topic focuses on the analysis of the media coverage of the deportation of Cuban migrants in Ecuador - occurred between July 5th and 13th, 2016 in Quito - by the digital platforms of El Comercio and El Telegrafo . The objective of the research is to analyze how both digital media approached this case from migration as a human right. It also examines the differences between the media coverage and the information spread on Twitter by citizens about the event. This issue is pertinent because the literature produced on Cuban migration in Ecuador has been developed from a legal and sociological point of view, but little has been written at the level of journalistic coverage. The results showed the lack of coverage of the issue from a rights approach by digital media. On Twitter, on the other hand, language management was much more careful and human rights violations were reported.
