Resumen
Finding a language of ones own in the Third Space: literature of the Spanish migration to Germany. Migration as a central experience of modernity has changed the concepts of homeland and identity. It has likewise changed literature and introduced the idea of the intercultural author, or literature from the Third Space. This article describes the infl uence of the Spanish migration to Germany during the sixties and seventies on the writing of Victor Canicio and Jose F. A. Oliver. Although the two authors belong to different generations and address distinct audiences Canicio mainly in Castellano and Oliver in German with features of Castellano and Alemannic both started writing as a result of the migratory experience. The literary careers of both evolved from seeking identity and a sense of home through writing, towards a relocation of the migrant subject between the homeland and the other. This relocation results in a refl ection on language and its limits and possibilities, embodying a transformation into a literature written from the Third Space.
