El fenómeno de la migración México-Estados Unidos desde una perspectiva social

Resumen
This article deals with Mexican emigrants’ living conditions, conceiving migration as a phenomenon that can be formally defined based on six basic principles, including aspects such as: its origin in structural changes, development of social networks, incorporation of domestic survival strategies, its influence on individual motivations, development of migratory networks, and the function of operation networks. Also, it indicates three historical stages in migratory flows from Mexican population to the United States: before, during and after the two World Wars. Finally, it describes the main causes and basic characteristics displayed by contemporary emigrants who arrive at the USA mainly looking for better wage and labor conditions.
