MIGRACIÓN Y OBJETIVOS DE DESARROLLO DEL MILENIO

Resumen

Bajo el auspicio de la Organizacion de las Naciones Unidas, 191 Estados adoptaron la Declaracion del Milenio en septiembre del ano 2000 y han identificado ocho Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (ODM´s). Si bien la migracion no figura como tema central en ninguno de estos objetivos, ella aparece como tema transversal que puede favorecer o dificultar el logro de los ODM´s. El objetivo de este documento, es discutir la articulacion entre la migracion y los ODM´s, centralizandose en los cuatro objetivos donde la relacion es mas directa: Objetivo 1 (reduccion de la pobreza), Objetivo 3 (igualdad de genero), Objetivo 6 (prevencion del VIH / SIDA, el paludismo y otras enfermedades) y Objetivo 7 (sostenibilidad ambiental). Ademas, se busca integrar algunos desafios que son pertinentes al considerar el apoyo de la poblacion inmigrante en la formulacion de estrategias para el logro de los ODM’s. Migration is not a central issue in any of these purposes, however it appears as a crosscutting theme that may promote or hinder the achievement of the MDG's. This paper’s intention is to discuss the relationship between migration and the MDGs's, centralized on the four objectives the relationship is more direct: Objective 1 (poverty reduction), Goal 3 (gender equality), Goal 6 (prevention HIV / AIDS, malaria and other diseases) and Goal 7 (environmental sustainability). In addition, it aims to integrate some challenges that are relevant to consider the support of the migrant population in developing strategies for achieving the MDG's.
