Resumen

Abstract The purpose of the study was to discover the relationship between the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the addiction to social networks in health students in Mazatlan, Sinaloa. The design was descriptive, transversal and correlational. The sample consisted of n =240 students, both sexes. The sampling was simple random. We used a personal data card and the Young questionnaire (2004), adapted by Oliva et al. (2014) to measure the prevalence of ICT and addiction. The results show that women predominate (62.1%), single (80.4%) and Catholic (84.6%), with an average age of 21.47 years ( SD =2.55). They started using the Internet around 14.03 years, at 6.60 years old video games and at 12.07 years old mobile phone. 92.5% of university students showed moderate addiction and 1.7% severe ( p = .05).
