Road Networks, Accessibility, and Resilience: The Cases of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru
Openalex
Resumen
This study develops and pilots in three Latin American countries a framework that aims at informing prioritization and improving decision making to enhance the reliability of road networks under uncertainty. The framework includes three key analytical blocks or objectives: measure and assess accessibility to road networks, identify and assess critical corridors of the network, and identify cost-efficient options to reduce the vulnerability of a road network’s critical links to exogenous shocks. For the purpose of piloting the methodology, the study focuses on three middle-income countries in Latin America—Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru—which together define an important subregion of South America.
